Abalone Recipes

Abalone Stew

1 pound raw abalone, tenderized and cut into small cubes
1/3 cup unsalted butter
1 med onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
1/3 cup chopped bell pepper
1 bay leaf
8 ounces tomato sauce
2 cups water
3 potatoes, cubed
½ teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Melt the butter and saute the garlic, bell pepper and onion. When the onion is clear, add the remaining ingredients (except the abalone) and simmer for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, add the abalone and cook another 5 minutes or so.

Abalone with Butter & Garlic

12 abalone, prepared
4 ounces butter
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
1 lemon
salt and pepper to taste

Microwave the butter until it is partially melted. Add the crushed garlic and microwave for another minute on medium power. Pour this into a dish big enough to hold the abalone but small enough to fit in the microwave. Add the abalone meat and cook for a minute or two then flip the meat and repeat. Don't over cook it or it will be tough. Serve with lemon.
