Strawberries

Very low in calories!

One cup of strawberries has only about 46 calories so feel free to eat all you want. They are great for diabetics too because that same cup of strawberries has only 11 grams of carbs.

Strawberry Recipes

Strawberry Banana Power Shake

1 cup skim or 1% milk
3 Tbsp wheat germ
1 cup strawberries
1 small ripe banana
4 ice cubes

Put everything in a blender and turn it on full blast. You might need to scrap the sides a bit or stir it up if the mixtures stops moving. These shakes are delicious.

 

Strawberry Salsa

1 cup chopped strawberries
1 Tbsp orange juice
1 tsp grated orange peel
1 finely chopped green onion (including the top)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 Tbsp dried currants
2 Tbsp red wine vinegar

Mix everything together and refrigerate. This is great served with chicken breasts or fish.
